Twitter has been an amazing channel for me to connect and communicate with some of my favorite bloggers. I found Trasi of Midwest Couture through a Follow Friday tweet of @Bergdorfs. Her blog dazzled me immediately with personal and ground level views of New York City. She recently made the move back to the Midwest and continues to be inspired by her surroundings and refuses to give up her Jimmy Choo’s. bio-photo

How did you come up with the name Midwest Couture?

A couple reasons…one, I have always stuck out in the Midwest due to my personal style. Designers such as Rick Owens, Alexander McQueen, Vince, Jimmy Choo, and Faliero Sarti speak to me – a lifestyle compliment. I always keep it classy and chic no matter what the occasion. And two, much of the beauty I find in nature, architecture, and art channels into my wardrobe. Having the name “Midwest Couture” defines my roots, that I am proud to hail from the Midwest representing style and poise, no matter where life takes me.

How or why did you start blogging?

Just a little over a year ago, I encountered a defining moment in my career. I took a stand and, well…the chips fell as they did. And what a tremendous journey it has been since! Midwest Couture launched a few short weeks later…what began as an online creative outlet proving I was more than what could conceivably be expressed on a resume has now evolved into a true passion…photography.

What is your most cherished fashion/clothing item?

It is a tie between a black Rick Owens dress purchased at Barney’s NY and a pair of snakeskin Jimmy Choo stilettos from Saks 5th. Beyond the items themselves…they both represent one of my last memories of living as a New Yorker. random-beauty-bw

Who are your favorite Twitter follows?

I have the swankiest Twitter family:

@FashionClassJet: the best of Twitter. Giuseppe is inspirational, poetic, classy, romantic, interesting, a conversationalist… His words influence my own creativity for which I am grateful.

@MoonglowLounge: a talented private chef with an passion for fashion. Charlie is a breathe of fresh air…prepare to be entertained with conversations covering everything from the runway to champagne and veggie dogs – there is never a dull tweet.

@CafeDeseo: adore reading Alicia’s positively fun, high-energy “good morning” tweets. We share an undying love for coffee, Fall fashion and over usage of palm tree emoticons  + “Muwahs”.

@Bergdorfs: she is the ultimate NYC fix – tweeting behind-the-scenes Bergdorf Goodman fashion and event happenings while also sharing book recommendations and unique New York moments that always put a smile on my face.

What Fall/Winter trend are you most loving right now?

Honestly, I do not follow many trends, but love Fall fashion…the perfect excuse for layering and playing with different textures. As more of a minimalist drawn to classic black and muted neutral tones, I must confess – a pair of Rick Owens ankle boots and an asymmetric leather bomber are on my wish list this season. Practically everything Alexander Wang is enticing to me right now as well as capes, waistcoats, and oversized cashmere beanies. Le sigh.
