Dear Vancouver,

Last night we lost a legend.

If you’ve been in Vancouver over the past 6 or 7 years, the chances that you’ve attended an event promoted by Shaun G. Shaun made up half of the Vancouver promoter duo ‘Pedro and Shaun’ – aka Soulgood. My Facebook was always full of invites from him to events he was promoting all over the city.

shaun1 Aside from promoting, Shaun was also involved in event planning, working with Molson Coors Canada and also had a job with Bacardi.

Shaun was known for his great personality, friendly and warm nature and love of life. He touched the lives of countless people and will be greatly missed by everyone.

If you’re on Twitter, today is not only #FollowFriday, but also #FuckCancerFriday – a topic that is trending in Vancouver.

Today is a great day to start supporting the Let’s F Cancer movement.

From all of us here at Define Magazine, our thoughts and prayers are with Shaun’s family and loved ones.

    Dear Erin,
I am the mother of Shaun and our family thank you for your kind tribute for my son, Shaun. All those outpouring love for my son gives us so much comforts.
He was an exceptional young man, dedicated, hard working, positive and loved his life. Everything in his life, he achieved so much and made us so proud. He was always reaching for the stars. He was brave, courageous to the end. Even in his physical pain, he never complained or swore, he never lost the sight of getting better and totally focused on being positive. He was more concerned for his parents. We tried to stay strong for him and he was determined to do the same. He was a thoughtful, caring son. He knew his mom would be so happy to have lunch with him anytime, anywhere, so he always made time even his crazily busy life. Our conversation was filled with his hopes and dreams. Then he got sick so suddenly and came home on Thanksgiving weekend.

Shaun never used the swearing words in front of us, even in his incredible pain while I was with him 24/7 at hospital, I never heard him being negative or complaining because we believed being positive is the only way to keep us strong. Those, who are all in good intention to help to beat this horrible cancer, can we use more positive words? I find it offensive to hear any swearing words. We are all frustrated and feeling helpless… but can we express our rage more appropriately, thus united, we keep on fighting, to get more researches done, to combat this rare kind of cancer and other types, so no one has to suffer.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone for thinking of our son and honoring him.
He will be deeply deeply missed and his light will shine on our hearts forever…
    Peace,
    The Gauthier family.

I never new or met Shaun but wanted to pass along my condolences. Losing anyone, but especially a child, is hard. Please know that there are many out in Cyberspace that are thinking of you in this trying time.
