Define Magazine Founders
Michael, an entrepreneur who discovered his passion for business at an early age, always felt that he was capable of more. He had a special way of seeing how the world worked, constantly analyzing things and coming up with ways to make them better. It was this way of thinking that led Mike to quit his 9-5 job and go into business for himself.
Erin, her background in criminology and softball, constantly pushed herself to be the best. With her competitive spirit and good work ethic, she has been able to be successful in everything she’s tried her hand at. It was these reasons that she was able to pique Mike’s interest.
Relationship
Mike and Erin’s friendship sparked via Twitter. Erin’s sass caught Mike’s attention and being a natural born entrepreneur, he knew that he wanted to get involved in a project with her. With their different backgrounds, Mike in business and computers, and Erin in the arts and customer service, they have been able to form the perfectly balanced partnership. What one takes, the other gives.
About Define
The inspiration for Define Magazine came from the philosophy of the founders of Reddit. Define arose from a desire to create something that others had yet to do.
Based in Vancouver, BC, Define Magazine is a lifestyle magazine with writers all over the world. In addition to having Canadian writers, Define Magazine also has writers in France, Japan, Korea, and the USA. With their talents, we will soon be able to cover all corners of the world. We want to go further than merely providing people with a synopsis of things that are happening in Vancouver and Vancouver history.
As a lifestyle magazine, we want to provide just that, a snapshot of the way we live, be it in Vancouver, or elsewhere. Define isn’t just about Vancouver, it’s about everywhere. We don’t limit ourselves to targeting only Vancouverites. We reach further, internationally, to create a phenomenon.
Why Define?
‘Define’ came from wanting to re-create, or redefine, the standard. It’s also about having the reader being able to define their own experience with us, since we encompass a number of areas.
